our neighbours up north
our neighbours up north is a BBC drama. the program is based that was created in 1992 and and is set in 1962. the program follows the story Nicky and his return to his old neighbourhood from a trip to America. in this essay i will be talking about the characters and how they are represented.
my first point of the characters is that they are represented as people from the 60s.
for example the female that is shown in the extract is wearing a dress this was a typical fashion choice for females in those times. The choice of clothes shows that she is a child. this is proven as she is seen in her parents house. The dress also shows her innocence. The next character that i will writing about is the main characters father. he is first seen at the dinner table eating breakfast. the position of the father on the table is important. he is sitting at the front of the table. This is important as this representation shows the hiraki of the era, the hiraki of men being the strongest figure in the house. there has been a massive difference in change in society since those times as women can now be recognised as the main figure in the household.
Immanuel I am pleased that you have completed it and you begin to explore aspects of representation, however, there are a few basic errors that need to be addressed:
ReplyDelete1) The show is called 'Our Friends In The North'
2) Please remain in the habit of using correct punctuation and grammar in your blog (capital letters at the start of sentences and new paragraphs)
3) You must use lots of media language.
Please discuss with me in class if you need me to explain further.
